Upper secondary education in Mexico to the challenge of universalization

Abstract

In Mexico, universal secondary education was legislated in October 2011. In this context, the article discusses the challenges of this decision from the perspective of educational provision in its various forms but also the senses of school for students, the new rural public school dropout problems. Discusses the issue of diversification necessary and inequality that accompanies it. Characterizes Reform School Education and the establishment of the National High School since administrative approach and ends pointing management aspects should be strengthened from a pedagogical perspective and subjects. The paper is based on one hand on official documents and the National Institute for the Evaluation of Education and on the other on findings from qualitative research line "Youth and high school."
