Abstract

This article describes the trajectory of the Journal Archivos de Ciencias de la Educación in the context of its fourth edition-period. A new era for a journal that notwithstanding its recent rebirth inscribes its own history and legacy in the 'enlighted tradition' of the Educational Sciences in the University of La Plata since its origins as a Pedagogic Section in the School of Law. After a general overview of the four eras of the journal, the article explores its central role in the creation and institutional development of the School of Humanities and Educational Sciences, tracing the individual trajectories of some of its key figures -the so called 'innovators'. The history of this journal should posit essential questions regarding the wider history of the School of Humanities and Sciences of Education; that although it was the first Latin-American School for the professional training of school teachers, created more than one hundred years ago, still lacks of its own institutional history
